Canada Fibers is proud to unveil the new Arrow Road MRF Complex, the largest Material Recycling Facility of its kind in North America — equipped to recycle both industrial, commercial and institutional (IC&I) waste and residential waste.
TORONTO, June 24, 2013 /CNW/ – Phase I of the facility opened in 2010 as a 25 tonne per hour single-stream facility focusing on the IC&I Sector, difficult to recycle streams from public spaces and reprocessing residue from conventional MRF’s.
Advancing Open Science for more than 25 years MDPI
The completion of Phase 2 of the Arrow Road Complex makes it the largest single-stream recycling facility in Canada, recycling materials primarily from residential sources at a rate of 60+ tonnes per hour. This 8 Hectare showcase property is located at 122 Arrow Road in Toronto, near the intersection of Hwy. 401 and Hwy 400. The Phase 2 facility is the most technologically advanced system for the processing of single stream residential material in North America.
This new facility has the highest recovery rate in the industry and is projected to recover and process 350,000 tonnes per year. Our goal is a 97% recovery rate of all commodities.
The Arrow Road MRF Complex is a one of a kind facility equipped with:
• 10 optical sorters
• 20 vacuum hoods (to recover film plastic from the stream)
• Bag breaking technology
• Unique and innovative disk screen technology
• A continuous loop feature to optimize and maximize the recovery of materials
Currently, 75% of Ontario’s waste goes to disposal. Canada Fibers is working hard to change that. There is a huge opportunity to recover these materials and remanufacture them, resulting in a positive outcome for everyone.
Recycling and reprocessing these commodities means less pollution, less greenhouse gas emissions and reduced power consumption. All while creating jobs and driving economic growth in Ontario.
With the completion of Phase 2 of the Arrow Road MRF Complex, Canada Fibers continues to build their reputation as a leader in the recycling industry.
By invitation only, the Grand Opening of the 122 Arrow Road MRF Complex, with special guest The Honourable Jim Bradley, Minister of the Environment will take place on June 26th at 10:00am
